Promenade BVI Sail Dive Cruises

fishing on promenade in the bvi

Fishing is an activity on Promenade Charters which has become extremely popular! Yacht Promenade is one of the VERY few British Virgin Islands crewed charter yachts that carries a commercial fishing license for the yacht! We carry ballyhoo and lures for trolling, a casting net for live bait, frozen squid for bottom fishing, 2 trolling rods, 3 bottom fishing/spinning rods, gaff hook, landing net, various lures, bottom tackle and hand lines as well as 4 rod holders on the aft deck.

can we cook what we catch?

We are often asked if we can eat the fish caught. If we catch pelagic fish (ie tuna, mackerel, dolphin fish) we will be happy to cook it up on the bbq. Usually within an hour of catching it! We do not keep anything that we catch off the reef, as there is too much chance of ciguatera poisoning, then our policy is catch and release. We have great luck with fishing off the back decks at night in our anchorages, and always keep frozen bait in the freezer.

flyfishing

If you prefer fly fishing, a sport which is gaining in popularity incredibly fast, then Promenade Sail/Dive yacht charters has arrangements with Caribbean Fly Fishing here in the BVI to pick you up at our yacht and take you out for a half day or a day. That way, those who do not want to fly fish can enjoy other activities. Click here for a link to their website for more information on what is available, both around Tortola and Anegada.

And of course, there is always the big one that got away! Occasionally only half a fish comes up on the line! Besides the large fish who take the line and run around the anchor twice, go around the yacht behind us, and then leap around like crazy we have pretty good luck!
